PAPARAZZI: X Factor’s Paula Abdul Steals The Spotlight From Cheryl Cole

She may be 21 years older than her, but Paula Abdul still managed to outdo Cheryl Cole on the red-carpet last night.

The X Factor judges went head-to-head in style stakes at the Fox Upfront at Wollman Rink in New York City’s Central Park with Abdul clearly stealing the spotlight from the 27-year-old brunette in a daring red shift dress. And the big boss Simon Cowell certainly appeared to approve of the plunging neckline, as the 51-year-old could barely keep his eyes off the Forever Your Girl singer.

Head to head: X Factor judges Paula Abdul and Cheryl Cole squared off in the style stakes at the Fox Upfront at Wollman Rink in New York City’s Central Park last night with Abdul clearly stealing the spotlight in a daring plunging coral shift dress

Eyes front Simon! The big boss Simon Cowell certainly agreed, as the 51-year-old could barely keep his eyes off the Forever Your Girl singer.

Abdul looked nowhere near her 48 years with her glowing décolletage and smooth complexion. While Cheryl still looked great in her own orange shift, she was definitely demure and covered up in the short-sleeved and high neck design. She finished off the prim and proper look with a pair of white t-bar stilettos and strings of Vivienne Westwood pearls.

Abdul clearly grabbed Simon’s attention in the daring dress as he spent much of his time cosying up to the singer and joking around with her.

Last night’s event marked the first time the whole U.S. X Factor team had been photographed together. The four four judges – which also includes music producer LA Reid – joined co-hosts Steve Jones and Nicole Scherzinger at the Fox event, the channel which will air the show come September.

Cheryl’s ensemble was surprising choice after the Geordie-born star dazzled with her spectacular and revealing Cannes wardrobe last week.

Horsing around: Abdul clearly grabbed Simon’s attention in her daring dress as he spent most of his time cozying up to the singer and joking around with her

The Girls Aloud singer had photographers flashbulbs in a spin when she stepped out in an extremely revealing plunging white Stephanie Rolland gown that left little to the imagination.

It was also a flat night for 32-year-old X Factor co-presenter Nicole, who failed to dazzle in a shapeless black bell shaped zip dress. .

The former Pussycat Dolls incredible figure was hidden under the ensemble puffed out at the waist and stopped at the tops of her knees.

With his gleaming white teeth and bronzed complexion, fellow host Jones showed he is settling into his new California surrounds quite well.

The British TV star jetted over to the States just over a week ago after he bagged the coveted job of hosting the U.S. version of the X Factor with Nicole.

Lacklustre: X Factor presenter Nicole and So You Think You Can Dance host Cat Deely failed to wow at the event.

For his night out Steve was dressed in a dapper Navy blue suit. The 34-year-old Welshman is now based mainly in Los Angeles after signing a deal with Fox to co-host the show just days before filming commenced.

Paula later posted a snap of her posing with fellow judge Cheryl and So You Think You Can Dance presenter Cat Deeley.

Deely also looked somewhat lacklustre in a beige suede shift which she paired with caramel sandals.

The 34-year-old wore her blonde hair poker straight and went minimal with her make-up.

Newly single actress Jamie Pressly went for the ethereal look on the red-carpet in a sheer white bat-wing frock with lace detailing. The 33-year-old wore her hair in a curly bob and showed off her tanned long limbs. 500 Days Of Summer actress Zoey Deschanel looked cute in pink-tiered confection complete with belt. And 31-year-old Glee actor Matthew Morrison looked handsome in a silver grey slimline suit paired with an open-neck black shirt. Cole and Abdul also join LA Reid and Cowell on the judging panel of the new US talent show.

Auditions began taping in Los Angeles last week and will continue around America over the coming months.

The show will then be screened on Fox from September.

Meanwhile while Cheryl may have been in Cannes 2011 on business, not just pleasure according to the latest reports. She has apparently been eyed up by Hollywood bigwig producer Harvey Weinstein who wants to put her in one of his films. According to sources in Cannes, Harvey reckons Chezza would make a great leading lady – and reckons she’s got a very interesting life. What’s that you’re wearing? Cheryl left the party wearing an oversized men’s blazer, possibly belonging to her bodyguard, which swamped her petite figure.

NEWS: Hits and Disses By MSN (Canada) Lifestlye Website

Hit: Arriving at the first U.S. X-Factor show, Paula Abdul shines in this purple outfit. The off-the-shoulder neckline seems totally Abdul (is it because it reminds us of the 90's?) and though it's got a drape-y relaxed fit, the slouchy style doesn't overwhelm thanks to the nipped-in waist and pretty angular hemline. The matchy-matchy shoes aren't our favourite, but we won't vote them off - just yet.

NEWS: Paula Abdul & Simon Cowell Reunited

GRAMMY AND EMMY AWARD WINNER PAULA ABDUL JOINS CHERYL COLE, ANTONIO “L.A.” REID AND SIMON COWELL ON “THE X FACTOR” JUDGES PANEL.

America’s sweetheart, world-renowned choreographer and pop icon Paula Abdul will join Cheryl Cole, Antonio “L.A.” Reid and Simon Cowell as a judge on THE X FACTOR, the highly anticipated singing competition series debuting this fall on FOX. Abdul, who sat alongside Cowell for eight seasons as a judge on AMERICAN IDOL, has worldwide album sales exceeding 50 million records, two No. 1 albums, six No. 1 singles, a Grammy Award, seven MTV Awards, two Emmy Awards, two People’s Choice Awards and two Kids’ Choice Awards. Abdul will join Cole, Cowell, and Reid as they travel to THE X FACTOR audition cities searching for the next global superstar or breakout music group.

“This show would never have been the same without Paula and I can’t believe I am saying this - I have missed her a lot, and I am thrilled she’s on the show,” said Simon Cowell.

"I am excited beyond words to be a part of THE X FACTOR. I couldn't be happier to bring my love for cultivating talent and performance to such a wildly anticipated show," said Paula Abdul. "I'm looking forward to being back with the FOX/FremantleMedia family and know that it will be an extraordinary journey -- we're going to have a blast. I'm also delighted and grateful to be sitting next to Simon again...but you might want to check back with me in a week or two!"

“Paula is not only the lovely, nurturing person that America fell in love with, but she’s also one of the fiercest competitors I’ve ever seen -- which makes her a perfect fit to judge THE X FACTOR,” said Mike Darnell, President of Alternative Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “Paula and Simon have undeniable chemistry, and together with L.A. Reid and Cheryl Cole, I think we’ve put together an incredibly entertaining judges’ panel.”

“I'm thrilled to be working with Paula again," says executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz. “A consummate entertainer in her own right, she has an extraordinary talent and generosity for nurturing performers -- and her chemistry with Simon Cowell is like no other. I especially look forward to seeing her signature sensibilities in action during our mentoring rounds!"

Auditions continue in Dallas, TX, on Thursday, May 26.

Singers and Vocal Groups Age 12 and Over Eligible to Audition For Chance to Win a $5 Million Syco/Sony Music Recording Contract

THE X FACTOR is searching for undiscovered talent 12 years old or over – both solo artists and vocal groups – who are willing to brave the panel for a chance to win a $5 million recording contract with Syco/Sony Music. Interested solo artists and vocal groups should sign up now for audition information at www.fox.com/theXfactor or call toll-free 855-345-5678.

In a departure from other singing competition series, the first time contestants audition for THE X FACTOR judges, they will do so in front of an audience of thousands – raising the stakes and increasing the pressure to impress not only the judges, but also a potential legion of fans. This will be the ultimate test to prove they have the vocal ability, charisma and stage presence that it takes to win an unprecedented $5 million recording contract with Syco/Sony Music.

As previously announced, Pepsi will serve as an official sponsor of THE X FACTOR. The comprehensive sponsorship includes an extensive, multi-platform off-air marketing partnership; weekly in-show integrations and placements; and an immersive content experience online.

THE X FACTOR is produced by Syco Television and FremantleMedia North America. Simon Cowell, Rob Wade and Siobhan Greene are executive producers for Syco Television. Cecile Frot-Coutaz, Richard Holloway and Andrew Llinares serve as executive producers for FremantleMedia North America.

NEWS: Will 4th Judge For 'X Factor' Be Paula Abdul?

NEW YORK (AP) -- Taping for the new Fox singing contest "X Factor" is scheduled to start Sunday. But only three of the expected four judges have been announced.

While the clock is ticking, the identity of the show's fourth judge, though widely expected to be Paula Abdul, remains unconfirmed.

Previously announced judges include pop superstar Cheryl Cole and Grammy-winning producer Antonio "L.A." Reid, as well as Abdul's former "American Idol" mate, Simon Cowell.

"The X Factor," based on Cowell's hit British show, will debut this fall on Fox. The likely choice of Abdul to be included is an open secret, fueled in part by Cowell's recent remarks that he would like to work with her again.

On Friday, negotiations with Abdul were continuing, according to a person familiar with the talks who spoke on the condition of anonymity because Fox and the show's producers had not authorized public comment.

Abdul is a dancer, choreographer and recording artist who reigned on "Idol" as the nice, if sometimes dizzy-seeming, judge who often clashed with Cowell, who played the role of bullyboy.

There was no immediate comment from Fox or from Abdul's agent or publicist.

In January, she debuted on CBS with her own talent competition, "Live to Dance," which was a flop.

"The X Factor" is open to solo singers and vocal groups age 12 and up. The winner gets a $5 million record contract.
